Levada Hike

Levadas are old irrigation channels carved out of the mountainside in Madeira. Walking along the narrow paths along these waterways is a popular way to explore the rugged interiors of the island. We went on a guided walk as not all paths are well marked and we didn't have a car. The temperature can be quite chilly at these higher elevations (1200m-1500m).
