These pictures are of some of the famous places in Lisbon. The ruins of Carmo are spectacular and are the ruins of a church destroyed by the quake of 1755. The Praca do Comercial square is the main hub of Lisbon, from where the sightseeing tours and walking tours all start. The Castelo Sao Jorge is a fortress built in the 4th century by the Visigoths and fortified by the Moors. Vasco da Gama was received here on his return from India by King Manuel I. The castle does not contain a royal residence.
